6. Operation
Active regeneration (ACM)
WARNING
During the active regeneration process, do not stop the engine and do not let it run idle (with-
out load) to allow the filter to be completely cleaned and the process to be concluded.
The higher temperature requires precautions to be taken to make the operation safe.
The system provides that an active regeneration is carried out every 100 hours of engine operation,
regardless of the percentage of DPF clogging.
A regeneration requires post-injection fuel, thus raising exhaust temperatures (620-630°C after the DOC)
to clean the filter. After fuel injection, exhaust temperatures and fuel consumption increase.
Active regeneration can occur during the generating set normal operation.
No operator's intervention is required.
When an active regeneration is carried out, the "ATT FIL-
TER INDICATOR LIGHT" on the control and command
panel switches on.
The duration of an active regeneration varies, from a
minimum of 30 minutes to a maximum of 60 minutes.
At the end of the process, the "ATT FILTER INDICATOR
LIGHT" turns off.
Note
The regeneration ends after 60 minutes regardless of the
result obtained in cleaning the filter.
Forced manual regeneration (MCM)
WARNING
During the forced manual regeneration process, do not stop the engine to allow the filter to be
completely cleaned and the process to be concluded.
The higher temperature requires precautions to be taken to make the operation safe.
If the passive and active regeneration attempts have failed and the exhaust gas back pressure and PM
accumulation have become excessive, the system will require a manual regeneration.
The control panel indicates the request for forced man-
ual regeneration by turning on the following indicator
lights:
"ECU YELLOW INDICATOR LIGHT" (1)
"ATT FILTER INDICATOR LIGHT" (2) (with slow
flashing)
As soon as possible, interrupt the work session and per-
form the forced manual regeneration.
Note
The regeneration ends after 60 minutes regardless of the
result obtained in cleaning the filter.
If the forced manual regeneration request is ignored, an excessive quantity of PM will accumulate in the
DPF filter, and PM combustion may cause a fire or damage the filter.
