The attachment of an RF transmitter, and its associated
cables to the body, can be accomplished by any of several
methods. Surgical tape and roller bandages of elastic material
can be used very effectively.
The TX-716 transmitter has an RF power output of 250 mW
(where heat generated is within tolerable limits), and the
transmitter can be located in close proximity to the skin. The
TX-916 has an RF power output of 1Watt and MUST be
insulated from the body when installed.
Unless the antenna used is designed specifically for
placement on the skin (such as the a/cf Skin Antenna, Cat. No.
91211-01), aseparation of at least one thickness of clothing
from the skin to the antenna is desirable for maximum signal
propagation. At least one thickness of tape should separate

plastic may be used as spacers and insulation.

The ON-OFF switch of abody transmitter must receive
special consideration. If the transmitter is to be turned ON at
some point during the operation, it must be both accessible
and unrestricted, if the switch is not to be turned ON during the
operation, then the switch should be secured in the ON
position with tape to prevent it from being accidentally turned
OFF by body movement.

Radio transmitters are not 100% efficient in radiating their
power as RF energy. Transmitter case temperatures can
sometimes reach very uncomfortable levels. Therefore, it may
be necessary to protect the wearer against injury from this
heat by one or more layers of insulating material between the
transmitter case and skin. This requirement becomes more
