D E S C R I P T I O N
Model TX-716 and TX-916 are crystal-controlled, narrow-
band FM transmitters designed to operate on asingle channel
within afrequency range of 150 MHz to 174 MHz. The.TX-716
develops 250 mW RF power output with 9VDC input, the TX-
916 develops 1Watt RF power output with 9VDC input.The
supplied microphone is ahigh sensitivity electret type, very
sensitive to voice, but relatively impervious to the rustle of
clothing. The external antenna (supplied with the unit) is tuned
to the operating frequency of the transmitter to assure
maximum signal propagation.
The transmitters are equipped with aspeech scrambler to
provide scrambled voice communications in investigative and
intelligence applications. Aselector switch is provided to
permit the user to select Scrambled (SC) or Clear (CL) mode
of operation.
The transmitters are designed to be used with all aid
Unitel® Intelligence Kits, multi-channel receivers, and pocket
receivers which operate on the same frequency. When the
transmitters are used in the scrambled mode, the Unitel® kit or
receiver must be equipped with the scrambler option.
O P E R A T I O N
Power Requirements
The transmitters are powered by two nine-volt alkaline
batteries (Cat. No. 94081). TX-716 battery life is 12 hours
continuous operation with factory fresh alkaline batteries at
68°F ambient temperature. The TX-716 will operate for 24
hours with lithium batteries. The TX-916 will operate for 3
hours with fresh alkaline batteries. Lithium batteries do not
have the current capacity to operate the TX-916.
