action will not cause the data to be read
into the Printer, but will cause the Reader
lamp to come on, if it is not already on, and
remain on after the backspacing has been
accomplished.
CHARACTER. This pushbutton will advance the
tape forward one character each time it is
pressed. The Reader lamp will come on, if it
is not alreddy on,

position, the tape rapidly adVances wnen a
delete is read; and the delete signal will

punched or sent to a remote printer.

LOCK/NORM.

position, it prevents the Reader from oeing
turned on either locally or

location.
READING TAPE
Lift the upper tape guide (over the sprocket
wheel) on the front of the Reader drawer.
Insert the beginning of the tape in the
bottom tape guide so that the teeth in the
sprocket wheel mesh with tape sprocket holes.
The tape will run through the Reader head
from left to right. ~ith the tape correctly
aligned with the sprocket wheel, close the
uoper tape guide to hold tne tape firmly in
place.
Check out all functions of the tape Header
with your Printer in the LOCAL mode.
The tape Reader will read and transmit ddta
at the speed set on tne Printer RATE switch.
