connection
has

telephone
receiver.
When
this
haopens,
press the
DATA
pushbutton
and
hang
up
the handset.

Printer has this equipment, your
telephone
will
look
liKe
an
ordinary telephone except one of
the
plungers
in
the
handset
cradle will be
a
DATA
button.
Since
this
type of interfacing
equipment is
pri~arily
for
use
in
talking
to a computer, your
Printer is permanently connected
in
the
originate
~ode.
Therefore,
before communication
can
be
accomplished
witn
a
remote
printer,
it
must
have
interfacing equipment
whiCh
is
connectej in the answer mode.
The calling procedure is to dial
tne
remote printer, pull up the
DATA
button
when
the
high
pitched
tone is heard, and then
lay down the
telephone
handset
on
the
desk top until you have
finished talking to
the
remote
orinter.
Do
not
hang
up
the
handset
before
communications
are
complete
since
this
disconnects the telephone line.
Regardless
of
which
type
of
interfacing
equipment
you may nave,
you will know you
are
connected
to
the
other
printer
when
the
READY
indicator light on
your
Printer
is
on.
When
the
READY lignt goes out,
you have been disconnected
from
the
remote printer.
