Coupler.
This
is
an
interfacing
device
whic
h has
a
place on top
for
cradlin
g
the
telephone
handset.
If

coupler

the
remote

er
.
For
example,
if the
remote
printer
is
in
the
originat

remote

The
calling procedure
is
to
dia

ter,

up
the
DATA
button

he
high

tone

heard,
and then

ay
down
the
telephone
handset
on
the
desk
top until you
have
finished
talking
to
the
remote
orinter.
Do
not
hang
up
the
handset

efore
communications
are
compl
ete
since
this
disconnects
the
telephone
line.

READY light
goes
out

you

been disconnected

the

Both
your
Print
er
and

he
rernot
printer
must
be

t
a

the

speed.
If
your
Printer
garbles
or
the
interrupt
light
constantly
comes on
when
the
remote
printer
is
se
nding,
try
selecting
another
speed by
changing
the
~ATE
swit
ch
.

Aft

r
commun
ication
has
been

a
remote
printer

you should
then
set
the
left
ha nd
margin
on
both
your
Print
er and on
the
remote
printer
.
To do
this
follow
the ste

listed below

a. Press and hold
the
ESC
key.
b.
Pre
ss and
release
the
2
key.
c.
Release the ESC key.
d.
Press
a nd
release
the
R~TUfiN
key.
The
above
sequence
will

ear
all
horizontal tabs and
set
the
left
hand
margin
at
pos ition

both
printers.
If
you
want
to
set

RATION OF THE PA PER
TAPE
PUNCH
The
bottom
drawer
in
the
desk,
which
is
a
part of
the
Automat
i
c
Send
Receive
(ASR)
model,
cont
ains the paper tape punch unit.
To
prepare a
paper
tape, proceed
as
follows.
I.
Tu
rn
on
power
.
Use tne
power
switch
loc
a ted
on
the
upper
right
side of
the deSK knp.e hole.
If
powe
r
doesn't
come
o
n,
check
to See
if
the
power
switch
on
the
rignt
rea
r
of
the
Printer
i
s on
.
Also
make certa
i
n
the
desk
power cord
is
plu
gged
into
a
wa

et.
2.
After
power
is
on,
press
the
ON
pushbutton
on
the
face of the
punch
drawer
.
(See
Figure
51.
The
pushbutton
should
light
indic
ating
the
Punch
is
ready to use.
3.
Press
and
hold
the
TAPE
FEED
pushbutton
.
A
"clicking" nois
e
will
be heard,
and
paper tape should
start
feeding
out of
the front of the
Punch
drawer. Allow
t
he
tape
to
feed
until
several
inches
of
leader (tape with
only
a
row
of
sprocket
holes)
is
observed.
This
will
clear
any
old
data
that
may
have
been left
from
a
previous
user.
Tear
off the tape by
pulling
straight
up.
If tape
doesn't
feed
out
when
the
TAPE
FEE
pushbutton
is
pressed
,
turn
powe
off
,
and pullout the Punch
d
r
a
wer
b
re
l
eas
ing
the
l
atch on
t
he
right side
of
the
desk knee hole
.
Check
to see
if
pape
r
tape is
properly
installed
