CHAPTER 3
-===========
.TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
~~~==============~=====
ASSEMBLIES
3. 1
The instrument consists basically of the following main assemblies:
(a)
Power Supply Assembly
(b)
Attenuator Assembly
(c)
Amplifier Divider Assembly
(d)
Divider Buffer Assembly
Optional fittings (for 9010 and 9011 only)are:-
(e)
Remote Control Assembly
(f)
Relays for "straight-through" operation.
FUNCTIONAL PRINCIPLES
3.2
The input signal is first brought to a suitable level in the Attenuator stage and
then fed to the Amplifier Divider Assembly, where, after amplification and
shaping, division by ten is carried out in an integrated circuit package which
can operate up to frequencies exceeding 600 MHz. From this IC divider the
signal is supplied to two parallel channels in the Divider Buffer Assembly. One
channel receiving further division by ten to provide a final output at the
-:- 100 socket, and the other channel feeding the;' 10 socket via an amplifier,
wi thout further division. On both channels provision is made for an external
inhibit which permits remote programming of the division outputs (Option 02
and 05). The simplified Block Diagram Fig.2.1 shows the principles of the
9010 and 9011. The 9012 and 9013 are similar except for the simpler
attenuator and non-availability of options.
NOTE: Paragraphs 3.3 to 3.6 refer to the attenuator arrangements for the
9010 and 9011 only. Users of the 9012 and 9013 should proceed to
pa rag raph 3.7.
