    Failure to comply with the set-up conditions can result in injuries and/or damage to the steam sterilizer. The steam sterilizer should only be setup, installed and commissioned by persons authorized by MELAG. The steam sterilizer is not suitable for operation in explosive atmospheres.

  • Page 7 2 Installation requirements If there is a wall cupboard above the device, it may have to be pulled forward to open the cover of the feed water tank. To ensure access, e.g. during maintenance, it must be possible to pull the device out of the cabinet. Additional space requirement for the feed water supply Additional space is required for a storage container or a water treatment unit.

    2 Installation requirements Mains supply Implement the following safety measures when dealing with the cable and power plug: Never damage or alter the power plug or cable. Never bend or twist the power cable. Never remove the plug by pulling on the power cable. Always take a grip on the plug. Never place any heavy objects on the power cable.

    Leakage water detector The installation of a leakage water detector with cut-off valve (e.g. the water stop from MELAG) is required. For hygienic reasons, the device is separated from the wastewater with a free fall section; this requires an open con- struction.

Operating the device with memory media To prevent data loss, only use memory media to save the log data with the following characteristics: Functional capability (without malware etc.)
  • Page 11 2 Installation requirements Operating the device in the local network (LAN) NOTICE Do not connect the device to a public network (e.g. the internet). An Ethernet/IP-based network connection (LAN) is required to operate the device in a local network. In its delivery state, the device is configured to obtain the IP address automatically from a DHCP server operated in a LAN.

    WARNING Improper installation may lead to a short-circuit, fire, water damage or electrical shock. This could result in serious injury. Only have the device set up, installed and commissioned by people authorized by MELAG. Removing from the packaging CAUTION Danger of injury from incorrect carrying.
  • Page 13 3 Setup and installation NOTICE! Make sure that the sliding film remains folded downwards. Place the loading slide in the sterilization chamber together with the fixing plate. Align the fixing plate so that the thread protrudes through the rear lug of the fixing plate. Pull the loading slide out slightly to better access the pressure release filter.

    3 Setup and installation Connecting the power cable and removing accessories NOTICE Before switching on for the first time, the device must have acclimatised to the required ambient temperature (5 – 40 °C). Connect the power cable to the rear of the device and fold down the safety latch.

    Connecting the feed water supply (installation examples) The following pages provide examples for the recommended installation types for the feed water supply. The connection of a different water treatment unit with the same water quality is possible after consultation with MELAG. PLEASE NOTE For detailed information on the cold water connection of the water treatment unit, see the user manual of the unit.
  • Page 16 3 Setup and installation Example 1: Using the reverse osmosis unit MELAdem 47 (HD) If the device is not located directly above the siphon, the wastewater from the water treatment unit (concentrate line) can- not be discharged through the free fall section of the device. The continuous discharge of the concentrate must be ensured by means of a type AA safety device for separation from the wastewater disposal in accordance with EN 1717.

The HD safety device is suspended, for example, beside the overflow funnel and fixed with the screw supplied. The flow direction is indicated on the safety device.

Keep the minimum distance (25 cm) of the fall section under the safety combination.   • Page 26 3 Setup and installation Example 6: Using the filling pump with wastewater container The device is supplied with feed water from the storage container via the filling pump. The maximum suction lift is 1.2 m. The wastewater is fed into the wastewater container via the drain hose. The filling level of the wastewater container is monitored by the device with a level sensor.

    Install the leakage water detector. Check whether the existing water tap is equipped with a return flow inhibitor and pipe aerator. If not, replace the existing tap with the intended tap with integrated safety combination from MELAG, see Installation material [} page 15].

    3 Setup and installation Aligning the device To enable malfunction-free operation, the device must be set up in a horizontal position using a spirit level which rests on the cover. After alignment, fix the device feet with the lock nut (AF13). Test runs Carry out the test runs according to the record of installation and setup.

    4 Turning the device 4 Turning the device To make it easier to reach the components built into the device sides when working on the device (e.g. maintenance), the device can be turned as follows. Close the door so that it does not swing open unintentionally. Switch off the device.
