Overview

The HKPF-525AV/525V HD-SD Down Converter
Board converts HD serial digital video signals to SD
component serial digital signals. The HKPF-525V
converts video signals only, and the HKPF-525AV
converts video signals embedded with audio signals.
It accepts and converts one HD serial digital video
signal, and provides four sets of output signals. The
output signal format can be selected from among 4:2:2
Y/B–Y/R–Y component serial digital video, 4:4:4 Y/
B–Y/R–Y component serial digital video, and 4:4:4
GBR component serial digital video.
The HKPF-525AV/525V is used in combination with
the PFV-HD50A/HD300 Digital Video Interface Unit.
Power for operation of the HKPF-525AV/525V is
supplied from the interface unit.
The HKPF-525AV/525V structure and power-supply
voltage are the same as those of all other HKPF-series
boards designed for use in the PFV-HD50A/HD300
Digital Video Interface Unit.
These boards may be installed in either interface unit
in any combination and used simultaneously, allowing
great flexibility of system configuration.
Note
The maximum number of HKPF-525AV/525V boards
that can be installed in the digital interface unit with
only these boards is as follows:
PFV-HD50A: 4
PFV-HD300: 11
Note
Setting of the switches on the board should only be
performed by qualified service personnel.

Features

1)
Conversion of HD SDI signals to SD (D1 SDI)
signals
HD SDI input signals can be converted to SD (D1
SDI) signals. Switch S1 (SD OUT) on the component
side of the HKPF-525AV/525V lets you select the
desired conversion, as shown below.
525: Used to convert HD SDI signals of 1125/59.94
Hz to SD (D1 SDI) signals of 525/59.94 Hz.
625: Used to convert HD SDI signals of 1125/50 Hz to
SD (D1 SDI) signals of 625/50 Hz.
Effective scanning lines 1035/1080 for HD SDI
signals of 1125/59.94 Hz
The effective scanning lines for input HD SDI signals
can be selected as 1035 or 1080 lines. This can be
selected either automatically or manually.
Note
The field frequency is fixed at 59.94 Hz.
Output of embeded audio signals (HKPF-
525AV only)
It is possible to embed the HD SDI embedded audio
signals in SD (D1 SDI) output signals.
Three aspect ratios
The aspect ratio for output SD SDI signals can be
selected from among the following three modes.
SQUEEZE: An HD picture with an aspect ratio 16:9
is converted to an SD picture with aspect ratio 4:3.
LETTER BOX: An HD picture is converted to an SD
picture with the same aspect ratio of 16:9. Black
bands appear at the top and bottom of the screen.
EDGE CROP: An HD picture is converted to an SD
picture cropped, leaving the cental part of the HD
picture within an aspect ratio of 4:3.
Synchronizing with an external reference
signal
SD SDI signals can be output synchronized with an
