4. Visually check to ensure the edge of the carriage height gap tool is under the head assem-
bly. Misplacement of the carriage height gap tool can result in a false adjustment and result
in damage to the printer or media.
5. Slowly turn the carriage height adjustment knob to adjust the carriage height until a very
slight resistance on the carriage height gap tool can be felt. With the carriage height ad-
justed properly, the operator should be able to easily pull the carriage height gap tool out
and away from the carriage.

6. With the carriage height properly set, the operator can proceed to
Maintenance.
