Natural leather
App lies to vehicles: with natu ra l leather
Audi makes great efforts to maintain the
properties, natural look and feel of interior
leather.
General
We offer many different types of leather on
our veh icles. Most are different types of nappa
leather, which has a smooth surface and
comes in var ious colors.
The intensity of the color determines the visu-
a l characteristics and appearance . If the sur-
face of the leather has a typical natural look,
then the leather is a nappa leather that has
been left in a relatively natural condition. This
leather offers particularly good comfort and
breathes well . Fine veins, closed g rains, insect
bites, s kin folds, and subtle variations in color
remain visible. These cha racte rist ics demon-
strate that t he ma t er ial is na tu ral.
Natural nappa leather is not covered by a col-
or finish. It is therefore more sensitive to soil-
ing a nd wear, which is some t hing you need t o
consider if ch ild ren, a nim als or othe r factors
migh t prove to be particular ly har d on the
leather .

By cont rast, lea t her types t hat are covered by
a colo red finish layer are more durab le . This
has a positive effect on the leather's resist -
ance to wear and soiling in dai ly use. On the
other hand, the typical characteristics of natu-
ral leather are barely or not apparent . Howev-
er, th is does not mean that the leathe r itse lf
is of infe rior quali ty.
Care and handling
Because of the exclusive nature of the types of
leather that Aud i uses and their unique prop-
erties (such as sensit ivity to oils, grease, soil -
ing, etc.), you will need to be somewhat ca re-
ful with these leathers, and a ce rtain type of
ca re is requ ired . For example , da rk clot hing
mater ials can disc olor leather seats (especi al-
ly if su ch clo t hing is d amp and was not dyed
correct ly). Dust and dirt particles in pores,
fo lds, and seams can have an abrasive effect
and can damage the leather surface as we ll as
weaken seams.
The leather should be cleaned regularly as
neede d. After having been used for a relat ively
long time, your leather seats will acq uire a
rich aged fin ish. This is a character istic of nat-
ural leather and a sign of true quality.
In order to maintain the val ue of this nat ural
product over the life of your ve hicle, you
shou ld follow t he recommendat ions below:

Note
- To keep your leather from bleac hing out,
do not allow it to be exposed to bright
sunlight for long periods of time. If you
have to leave the ve hicle parked outside
for long per iods, cover the leather to
protect it from direc t exposur e to s un-
light.
- Shar p objects on clothi ng, such as zip-
pers, rivets o r sharp pieces on belts can
leave permane nt scrat ches or scrape
