MIDI RECEIVE CHANNEL FILTER [¢]

Overview
This function allows you to choose on which of the 16 MIDI
channels the PortaSound will receive data in either MIDI
RECEIVE
MODE,
Keyboard Assign 00 or Sound Source
99.
It also lets you determine whether the PSS-780 will be
controlled by external or internal clock data.
To select these reception channels individually for the two
modes, the corresponding RECEIVE MODE (00 or 99) must
be chosen before performing the following settings.
@ Operation
1. Press RECEIVE CH. [d].

This display shows that channel 1 is selected for MID!
reception.
A minus sign "—" in front of the displayed MIDI channel
number indicates that this channel is set to receive MIDI
data.
2. Turn this channel on or off with the VALUE buttons.
Pressing — causes the minus sign to disappear, meaning
that MIDI
data will not be received on the displayed
channel.
Press + to turn it on again.
3. Use RECEIVE CH. [{d] to call up the other channels.
Each time you press RECEIVE CH. [¢] , the display will
switch to the next MIDI
channel, starting again from
channel | after channel 16 (or [¢] when in "00" mode
only) has been displayed.
As explained in step 2., you can turn the displayed channel
on or off with the VALUE buttons.

After channel 16 has been called up, pressing RE-
CEIVE CH.
[dg] again displays a [c] for "clock"
(in 00 mode only). This parameter turns the external
clock reception on (indicated by a minus sign) or off
as shown in step 2., allowing you to switch between
internal and externa! clock control.

The PortaSound remembers these MIDI RECEIVE
CHANNEL
SETTINGS even when power is turned
off.

Two different groups of MIDI
RECEIVE
CHAN-
NEL settings are stored separately for the two MIDI
modes, 00 and 99. Selecting one of these modes au-
tomatically
selects
the corresponding
MIDI
RE-
CEIVE CHANNEL
settings.

At delivery, all channels are on for reception (corre-
sponds to OMNI
mode). In mode 00, the external
clock is off.
TRANSMIT CHANNEL [2] Selection

Overview
This function allows you to select one MIDI channel for
transmission of
"live" data (= the data of your current
manual performance) to external MIDI equipment.
@ Operation
1. Press TRANSMIT CH
[2].
Indicates MIDI
TRANSMIT CH selection
TEMPO/PARAMETER & VALUE
MIDI channel number

This display shows that channel 1 is selected for MIO!
transmission.
The displayed MIDI channel number is the one currently
set to transmit MIDI data.
2. Set the MIDI channel with the VALUE buttons.
Pressing + raises the channel number while.— lowers it.
(The display continues to change when 16 or | is reached.)

The TRANSMIT
CH. number is memorized even
when power is turned off. The default value is 1.

Pressing TRANSMIT CH. [2] again enters Memory
Bulk Dump mode, explained above. If you mistakenly
entered this mode, press TRANSMIT CH. [2] once
more to be able to select the transmission channel.
