  • Page 14 Signal Routing Software Our signal routing software, Switch Path Manager, automatically selects and energizes switch paths through Pickering switching systems. Signal routing is performed by simply defining test system endpoints to be connected together, greatly accelerating Test System software development.
  • Page 15 FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION The 60-721A is a video multiplexer with up to 144 channels under the control of an LXI interface designed for the routing of signals with frequencies up to 1GHz. The 60-721A can be, cascaded to create larger multiplexers by the use of expansion connectors Exp1 and Exp2.

    EXPANDING THE VIDEO MULTIPLEXER The 60-721A can easily be expanded by linking the Exp1 and Exp2 ports to the Common connections of other 60-721A units. In the example shown in Figure 2-4, two 72-channel multiplexers are cascaded from one 72-channel unit creating a single 216-channel video multiplexer.

    SOFT FRONT PANEL OPERATION The 60-721A Video Multiplexer can be programmed using the Soft Front Panel. This can be run as a Java Applet from the device’s LXI home page. You must have the Java Runtime environment loaded from Sun Microsystems to use this facility.

    PROGRAMMING THE 60-721A The 60-721A is a single bank multiplexer of which may be set to route any of the signal channels to the common. When not routed, the default condition for a channel is to be connected to a termination resistor. The unit can be supplied fitted with 24, 48, 72, 96, 120 or 144 channels.

    Serial data streams carrying switching information are sent to the 16:1 Multiplexer Board via two ribbon cables. Up to six 12:1 Multiplexer boards can be fitted to the 60-721A, each receiving its serial data from the 16:1 Multiplexer board.
