Complete the checklist shown below before commissioning the encoder.

Factory serial number, see the rating plate geared motor
Instructions SIMOGEAR gearboxes 2030
The designated product is designed for installation in a machine. Commissioning is prohibited
until it has been established that the end product conforms with Directive 2006/42/EC.
Measure
Is the signal yellow Safety Integrated marking on the front cover and SI04 marking on the rating
plate?
Is the geared motor free of any damage?
Are the operating instructions BA 2730, Sendix SIL, BA 2030, BA 2330 – and all of the other
instructions for the encoder available – and have they been carefully read?
Does the data stamped on the geared motor rating plate correspond to the particular application?  
Is the installation altitude below 1000 m above sea level?
Is the ambient temperature maintained between -30 °C and +50 °C
Is operation under harsh industrial environments completely ruled out, for example the offshore
or chemical industry, and areas with direct exposure to seawater or spraying seawater?
Was the geared motor correctly installed and aligned to rule out vibration and shock?
Does the motor manifest vibration levels and shock below those according to EN 60721-3-3, up
to and including Class 3M3.
Is the maximum motor speed less than 4000 rpm?
Is the maximum angular velocity of the motor less than 4000 rad/s
Is the thermal motor protection evaluated?
Have the controllers of the converter or comparable power controlling device been set so that no
resonance effects occur at the geared motor, encoder or the torque arm of the encoder?
Is the brake only used as holding brake with emergency stop function?
The electrical installation of the encoder is described in the operating instructions
Sendix SIL Encoders for Functional Safety from Kübler.
Have qualified personnel connected the encoder to the encoder evaluation?
Was a suitable, shielded connecting cable with twisted conductor pairs used?
Were the connecting cables attached to the encoder without any strain, the cable and connector
installed and securely attached?
Is the maximum length of the connecting cable 50 m?
Is the connecting cable shield connected at both ends through a large surface area and grounded?
The closer the shield is connected to the encoder / encoder evaluation, the more effective the
shield is.
Is the connection assignment of the mating connector of the connecting cable the same as shown
in the table of these operating instructions in Chapter AUTOHOTSPOT?
The data transfer is described in the operating instructions

Was it checked and ensured that the supply voltage has the correct level and polarity?
Were the sinusoidal and cosinusoidal signals checked to ensure that they have the correct polarity
and phase?
Was it checked and ensured that the 120 Ohm terminating resistor is installed in the signal paths?
