The Dräger PAS Micro CFH is a self-contained breathing apparatus
which provides respiratory protection for short-duration light work and/or
escape operations in contaminated environments. The equipment
provides a single use of approximately 17 minutes (11 minutes until the
whistle sounds to warn of low cylinder pressure). After use, only service
personnel or Dräger can prepare the product for the next use.
The features of the equipment are as follows.
– The carrying system comprises the shoulder harness, waist belt, and
cylinder strap fitted on to the backplate.
– The pressure reducer connects directly on to the air cylinder, and
reduces the cylinder pressure to the required pressure.
– The whistle on the pressure reducer sounds to warn the wearer that
the cylinder pressure is low.
– The air cylinder and hood are described in section 3.2 and
section 3.3.
3.2 Air cylinder
Breathing air is supplied from a composite air cylinder with a working
pressure rating of 300 bar. The cylinder valve (Fig. 2) has a pressure
indicator which is used to ensure that the cylinder is full before starting
the operation. Red and green sectors on the face of the pressure
indicator show the fill level of the cylinder.

3.3 Hood
A constant flow of air is delivered to the user at a hood (Fig. 3) which fits
all head sizes. The internal nose cup directs the breathing air to the
wearer. The nose cup fits over the nose and mouth, and the head strap
helps to hold it in place. The rubber neck seal minimizes air leakage
during use.
The connecting hose has a quick coupling for rapid connection and
disconnection when required.
The hood is stored ready for use in a disposable transparent plastic
storage pouch. The plastic storage pouch is made from a blend of
polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polyethylene (PE) which is
currently not recyclable.
