9 Switching the product ON

The product will automatically switch ON if connected to an external battery with >6.5V.
■
Internal batteries are required to power the product if it is not connected to an external battery or if the connec-
ted battery voltage is <6.5V.
■

10 Connecting leads to battery
10.1 Preparation for connection
Before connecting the cables to a battery:
■
Switch OFF all vehicle electrics (e.g. air conditioner, heater, radio, lights etc.).
■
Make sure the ignition key is in the "OFF" position. For push-to-start ignition, make sure the vehicle is com-
pletely OFF.
■
Check the battery contact terminals are clean.
■
Prepare your vehicle for ignition (e.g. place gear in park and engage the emergency brake).
10.2 Connecting the leads
Important:
Always connect test leads to terminals in the correct order.
1. Connect the red clamp to the positive (+) terminal.
2. Connect the black clamp to the negative (-) terminal.
3. Wiggle the clamps back and forth to ensure proper connection.
10.3 Disconnecting the leads
When finished using the product:
1. Disconnect the red clamp.
2. Disconnect the black clamp.

Each port has a different socket so only the correct
cable can be connected.
1. Connect the cables as shown.
2. Secure the cables using the retention screws.
