even during normal operation, it may get as
hot
as
35°C
(63°F)
above
room
tem-
perature.
12. The
heat sink on the rear panel
becomes hot.
The heat sink on the rear panel is for the
final transistors and may
become
as hot as
40°C (72°F) above room temperature.
Make
sure the area around
the unit has as much
ventilation as possible.
13.
Hot air suddenly or occationally
eliminates from the heat sink on
the rear panel.
The
cooling
fan
has
been
automatically
triggered ON
due to the temperature
of the
final transistors.
This is a normal condition and you may continue
operation.
However,
if the fan starts running
at
high speed
and the frequency
display
LED's and
meter
lamps start blinking,
discontinue
operation
immediately, allow the heat sink to cool and check
to see that you
have the best ventilation
possible,
or correct a high SWR condition, etc.
Insufficient
ventilation
of the heat sink on
the rear panel.
14.
Frequency
display
LED's
and
the meter
lamps start blinking,
and the fan starts running at high
speed.
Make
sure the heat sink on the rear panel
has as
much ventilation as possible, after stopping transmit
operation and allowing the heat sink to cool.
Long operation on RTTY or CW.
Reduce the RF output power by turning the COMP
control
knob counterclockwise,
or set the unit in
the receive mode as quickly as possible.
Excessive antenna SWR.
Check
the
antenna
feed
line
and
correct
any
improper condition of mismatch.

The DIAL
FAST button was pressed, or the
VFO
Select switch
was turned while in the
DIAL FAST mode.
Release the DIAL
FAST
function by pressing the
DIAL
FAST
button again, and set the unit to the
desired frequency with the Tuning knob.
The Power switch was turned OFF
and ON
too quickly.
. An abnormal
figure is displayed
on an
LED, or an
LED
fails to
illuminate.
Turn
the Power
switch
OFF,
wait a few seconds,
and then turn it ON again.
. An unusual amount of distortion
and/or
noise
in
the
transmit
signal.
The
MIC
GAIN
is too
high when
the RF
Speech Processor is ON.
While watching the meter in the COMP mode, turn
the
MIC
GAIN
control
counterclockwise
so that
the
meter
indicates
approximately
0 dB
at the
voice peak.

using
an
electronic keyer.
The Switching circuit of the electronic keyer
does not close completely.
Replace the keyer with one having a voltage of less
than 0.4V between the two keying lines at the key
down
position, or modify
your
keyer so that the
voltage is less than 0.4 Volts.
Polarity
of the connection
wires from
the
keyer is reversed.
The MODE
switch is not in the CW or CW-N
position.
Connect the keyer wires observing proper polarity.
Place
the
MODE
switch
in
the
CW
or
CW-N
position.
