Using the Backlight Compensation
The camcorder contains an auto iris that adjusts the lens aperture depending on the available light
widening it under low light conditions and narrowing it v/hen bright light Is available. When the cam¬
corder is turned off the iris fully closes.
When you are filming a. subject in front of a bright¬
ly lit background, press and hold the BLC button: It
mull correct the lighting on the tape.

Locking the White Balance
TIulS camcorder adjusts the white balance automatically (auto white balance): Using the menu, you can
lock the optimum white balance set in the auto white balance status.
1 Set the CAM/OFF/VIDEO switch to CAM.
2 Press the MENU button: The menu display will

disappear from the LCD monitor or viewfinder.
Note:" if the CAy/OFF/VDEO'svdtch Is set to
VIDEO, locking will be released and "AUTO" will
be specified again.
Note: if unnatural colors appear on the LCD
monitor with "VVHiTE BAL. LOCK" specified, reset
the vvtiite balance or specify "Vi/HITE BAL.
AUTO".
