SEALING WASHER
5. Attach a garden hose from a fresh
water faucet to the garden hose
adapter.
6. Turn on the fresh water supply, and
verify that there is good water
pressure at the outboard motor.

7. Flush the engine with fresh water
for at least 10 minutes.
Check that water is draining from
the cooling system indicator, the
cooling water intake port and the
exhaust port.
Do not start the engine while
flushing.
8. After flushing, remove the garden
hose adapter.
9. Reinstall the flushing plug bolt and a
new sealing washer to the plug hole.
FLUSHING PLUG BOLT TORQUE:
9 lbf·ft (12 N·m, 1.2 kgf·m)
10. Reinstall the engine cover.
11. Tilt up the outboard motor and

move the tilt lock lever to the
LOCK position.
