Performing a Factory Reset

You can carry this out in the Test Mode.
For more information, refer to 18. FACTORY RESET (p. 24) in the Test
Mode.
Performing a factory reset in the Test Mode returns all settings except user
instruments to its factory-default state. In cases when the customer wants the
customer-saved User Inst area on the HPD-20 returned to its factory defaults,
copy the backup file available via Service Net
(BKUP-001.HS0) to the Roland/HPD-20/Backup folder on the USB memory
device and restore it. (Refer to Data Backup and Restore Operations (p. 18).)

Updating the System

Items Required
• Computer
• USB memory device (recommended: M-UF1G or M-UF2G)
• Updater file (obtained via Service Net)
Procedure
1.
Follow Formatting a USB Memory Device (p. 18) to format the USB
memory device.
2.
Copy the updater file unarchived on the computer (.bin) to the root
directory of the USB memory device.
* Copy the updater file one at a time.
3.
While the power to the unit turned off, connect the USB memory device
just described to the HI-SPEED USB MEMORY connector.
4.
Hold down MENU and turn on the power.
The message Please Wait... appears on the screen, and then the update
starts. While the update is in progress, the message Updating... is
displayed at the center of the screen, along with a number that
progressively decreases.
* Be very sure never to disconnect the USB memory device or turn off the power
while the update is in progress. Doing so might result in system corruption.
When the message Update Complete. appears, the update has finished.
5.
Turn off the unit and disconnect the USB memory device.
6.
Execute a factory reset.
(Refer to 18. FACTORY RESET (p. 24))
Updating the system does not initialize the customer-saved User Inst area on
the HPD-20. In cases when the customer wants the customer-saved User Inst
area on the HPD-20 returned to its factory defaults, copy the backup file
available via Service Net (BKUP-001.HS0) to the Roland/HPD-20/Backup
folder on the USB memory device and restore it.
(Refer to Data Backup and Restore Operations (p. 18).)

Test Mode

Before executing the Test Mode, first update the system program to version
1.02 or later.
A factory reset must be performed at the end of the Test Mode. All user data
are lost when a factory reset is performed. Make a backup beforehand. (Refer
to Data Backup and Restore Operations (p. 18).)
