ERROR MESSAGES
In the event that something goes wrong
or needs attention, one of the
following messages may appear on the LCD display.
This data will appear if unrecognizeable data appears at the MIDI in connec-
tor or if the MIDI connections are not made properly. Check all cables and
MIDI
data
error
related equipment. This display can sometimes be caused by turning on an
external MIDI device connected to the DS55 MIDI IN connector while the
DS55 power is on.
Too much MIDI data has been redeived in too short a period of time, caus-
ing the DS55 MIDI buffer to become full and overflow. This can be caused
MIDI

by sending extremely complex and/or fast sequences to the DS55 from a
MIDI sequencer.
You have attempted to load data into the DS55 via the MIDI interface with-
out turning the memory protect function off. Turn memory protect off and
try loading the data again.

The backup battery which maintains the contents of the DS55's internal
memory even when the power switch is turnf off has run low and must be

replaced. Do not attempt to replace the backup battery yourself — refer this
job to qualified YAMAHA service personnel.
The main batteries used to power the DS55 have run low and must be
replaced. See page 5 for battery replacement instructions.
