Care and Maintenance
1. Lens Cleaning
Dust is best removed with a soft brush or gauze.
More persistent dirt,
such as fingerprints, grease and oil, may be removed with soft cotton,
lens tissue, or gauze lightly moistened with absolute alcohol (methyl
alcohol or ethyl alcohol).
Use only xylene to clean immersion oil off objective surfaces.
Do not use xylene to clean the entrance lens at the bottom of the eyepiece
tube or prism surface of the eyepiece tube.
Absolute alcohol and xylene are quite inflammable.
Use great care when
handling them and when setting the power switch on and off.
Be very
careful with fire.
2. Cleaning Painted Surfaces
Avoid use of any organic solvents (such as alcohol, ether, thinner, etc.) to
clean the painted or plastic surfaces of the instrument. We recommend
that these parts be cleaned with silicon cloth.
3. Never Dismantle
Never attempt to dismantle the instrument, thereby avoiding the possibility
of impaired operational efficiency and accuracy.
4. When Not In Use
When the microscope is not in use, cover it with the vinyl cover, and store
it in a dry place not subject to mold.
We especially recommend that the objectives and eyepieces be kept in a
container (such as a desiccator) with desiccant in it.
5. Periodical Inspection
To maintain the performance of the microscope, we recommend you to
check the microscope periodically.
(For details of inspection, contact your
dealer or nearest Nikon representative.)
