Recording Media (Magnetic Disk)
A magnetic disk is made of an aluminum substrait on which magnetic material is
coated, measures 200mm (8 inches) in diameter, and 2mm in thickness. It is used to
store data. Because of the CSS characteristic of the drive, the media surface is
lubricated with a special lubrication in order to prevent wear. Up to four disks are
installed for a maximum storage capacity of 23.4M bytes. The index information is
stored in the outer circumference (beyond the data field) on the under side of the
lowest disk.
