Symptom
Starter does not turn
Engine does not start
over, or weak
Engine does not start Starter turns over
Cause
Discharged batteries
Battery terminals detached,
loose, or corroded
Starter ground wire terminal
detached, loose, or corroded
Engine oil viscosity too high
Starter or electrical system is
faulty
No fuel
Air in the fuel system
Fuel filter clogged
Fuel is frozen
Common rail system is faulty
Preheating system is faulty
Corrective Action
Recharge or replace
After repairing corroded
section, connect the terminals
firmly
After repairing corroded
section, connect the terminals
firmly
Change to an oil with proper
viscosity
Make sure there are no fuel
leaks, and then add fuel
Bleed fuel system
Warm fuel pipe with hot
water or wait until it gets
warmer
