- Always connect POSITIVE( +) to POSITIVE
(+), and NEGATIVE(- ) to NEGATIVE(- )
ground post of t he battery manager contro l
unit .
- Check that a ll screw plugs on the battery
cells are screwed in firmly . If not, t igh ten
plugs prior to connecting clamp on negative
batte ry te rminal.
- Please note t hat the procedure fo r con nect-
ing a j umper cab le as desc ribe d above ap-
plies specifica lly to the case of yo ur vehicle
being jump st arte d . W hen you are giving a
ju mp st a rt to an othe r vehicl e, do not con-
nect t he nega t ive (- ) ca ble t o t he nega t ive
(-) t ermin al on the discha rged bat te ry @

General hints
Your Audi require s speci al handling f or t owing.
The follow ing informat ion is t o be used by com-
mercia l tow tr uck opera to rs who know how to op-
e rat e the ir equip ment safely.
- Never tow your Audi. Towing will cause dam-
age to the engine and transmission .
- Never wrap the safety chains or winch cables
around the brake lines.
- To prevent unnecessary damage, your Audi
must be transported with a flat bed truck.
- To load the vehicle on to the flat bed, use the
towing loop found in the vehicle tools and at-
tach to the front or rear anchorage

ge rs. Never allow a nyo ne to ride in a vehicle
being t owed, for any reason.

The threaded opening for the towing loop is lo-
cated behind a cover on the right side of the front
bumper .
.,. Remove the towing loop from the vehicle too l

.,. Press the cap inward with brief, forceful pres-
sure <=> fig. 214 . The cap will loosen from the
bumper.
.,. Tight en t he towing loop in the t hreaded open-
ing until it st o ps c::> fig. 215 and t hen tig hten it
wit h a wheel wre nch.
