For Your Information
Precautions
On safety
* Before operating the unit, be sure that the
operating voltage of your unit is identical
with that of your local power supply.
¢ Unplug the system from the wall outlet if
it is not to be used for an extended period
of time. To disconnect the cord, pull it out
by grasping the plug. Never pull it out by
the cord itself.
« AC power cord must be changed only at
the qualified service shop.
Notes on the Speakers
¢ Be sure to connect the power cord from
the speakers to the preamplifier last.
* Place each speaker on a speaker stand
(not supplied) or a firm surface. If the
speaker is placed on a carpet, the heat
from the built-in power amplifier may
cause discoloration of the carpet. Do not
leave the system in a location near heat
sources, or in a place subject to direct
sunlight, excessive dust, moisture, rain or
mechanical shock.
* Do not insert any long, thin objects into
the electrostatic tweeter section.
Attempting to disassemble or clean the
equipment is also dangerous.
Because the diaphragm of the
electrostatic tweeter is extremely light,
the volume at the high-end frequencies
will decrease if water droplets due to
spray or condensation form on the
membrane.
It is sometimes possible to hear the
diaphragm resonating momentarily when
the power is first turned on. This is not a
malfunction.
To clean the cabinet
Use a soft, slightly moistened cloth with
mild detergent solution. Do not use any
type of abrasive pad, scouring powder or
solvent such as alcohol or benzine.
In case colour irregularity is observed
on nearby TV screen
With the magnetically shielded type of
speaker system, the speakers can be installed
near a TV set. However, colour irregularity
may still be observed on the TV screen
depending on the type of your TV set.
if colour irregularity is observed
Turn off the TV set once, then turn it on after
15 to 30 minutes.
If colour irregularity is observed again
Place the speakers farther away from the TV
set.
Furthermore, be sure not to place objects such
as audio racks, TV stands, toys, ete., which
contain or use magnets near the TV set. These
may cause magnetic distortion to the picture
due to their interaction with the system.
If you have any question or problems
concerning the unit, please contact your
nearest Sony dealer.
