2.1 Operator Training
Operator using the fastening system:

must read and understand this manual.

must have training on proper use of the fastening system.
●
must have a training on emergency-medical service and
emergency patient-handling procedures.
must have the physical ability to assist the patient.

must practice with the fastening system before using it with

a patient.
●
must keep training records. For a sample training record sheet,
see "Training Record" on page 18.
2.2 Terms
The following terms are used in this manual.
Fastening System: The fastening system is a generic term for
●
a device that secures a compatible ambulance cot inside an
ambulance for ground-based transport.
Integrated Charging System: ICS is a system of cables
●
and connections from the battery charger to the fastening
system. The ICS delivers charging power to the iN∫X when
powered and with an iN∫X secured in the fastening system.
Nose: The nose is the end of the fastening system nearest the
●
rear ambulance doors (or furthest from the ambulance driver.)
