12-1. MECHANICAL
ADJUSTMENTS
Prior to Adjustment
Clean the both reel base, the capstan and the pinch roller
with an alcohol moistened swab.
Pinch
Roller Pressure Adjustment
1.
Put the deck in to the play back mode.
2.
Gently push against the pinch roller arm with the
tension gauge and separate the pinch roller slightly
from the capstan.
3.
Then the pinch roller back onto the capstan, and
read the value when the pinch roller starts to rotate. If
the reading fails to lie within 300 — 500g, replace the
pinch roller pressure spring.

Reel
Base Torque Check
Measure
the
torque
with
the
torque
meter
during
playback, fast forward (FF) and rewind (REW) modes.
The measured
values should normally lie within the
allowable ranges listed in the table 1.
If the measured values lie outside the relevant ranges,
replace the T reel assembly, and/or S reel assembly or P
idler assembly.
