To check if your audio card is
producing sound, connect a pair of
headphones to it. If you hear
sound, then the problem is with
the speakers or connection; if not,
the problem may lie in the card or
software configuration
This appendix provides solutions to problems you may encounter during installation or normal use.
The installation does not start automatically after the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Installation and
Applications CD is inserted.
To start the installation program through the My Computer shortcut menu:
1. Double-click the My Computer icon on your Windows desktop.
2. In the My Computer window, double click the CD-ROM drive icon.
3. In the Explorer window, locate the file named Setup.exe and double click it.
There is unexpected, excessive environmental sound or effects when an audio file is played.
The last selected preset is an inappropriate environment for the current audio file.
To switch to an appropriate environment:
1. Click the Audio Effects tab in EAX Console.
2. Click the Enable/Disable Audio Effects check box to clear it.
Note: The preset box title may change, depending on the effect you select.
No sound from the headphones.
Check the following:
❑ The headphones are connected to the Headphones jack.
❑ In the Speaker Selection tab of Creative Speaker Settings, the Headphones option is selected in the
Speaker/Headphone Selection box.
❑ In the Basic tab of Creative Surround Mixer, the recording source selected is "What U Hear".
