Troubleshooting hard drives

Disk drives are hot-swappable. Leave the enclosure powered on when replacing drives.
Basic troubleshooting
1. Determine the status of the hard drive indicators. See
● If the hard drive status indicator blinks amber (150 msec On, 150 msec Off), the hard drive has failed.
● If the hard drive status indicator is not lit, go to the next step.
2. Remove the drive carrier from the enclosure. See
NOTE:
When performing hot-plug operations, ensure that you follow all electrostatic and thermal guidelines.
3. Check the hard drive to ensure that the connectors are not damaged.
4. Reinstall the hard drive into the enclosure.
5. If the problem is not resolved, swap or replace the drive with a known good drive.

SATA drives are not supported in MD24 Series enclosures. If you insert a SATA drive into the enclosure and then replace it with
a SAS drive, the enclosure will not recognize the SAS drive.
To recover from this condition, insert the SAS drive into the enclosure and cycle power on the enclosure.
