Digital Audio Playback
Digital audiois amajoradvancement overolder analog
surround processing systems s uchasDolby ProLogic.
Itdelivers f ivediscrete c hannels: leftfront, c enter, right
f_ont, l eftsurround andright s urround. Each channel
reproduces fullf_equency range(20Hz to 20kHz) a nd
offers dramatically improved d ynamic r ange andsignifl
cantimprovements to signal-to-noise rallos. I naddition,
digital s ystems h ave the capability todeliver a nadditional
channel thatis spedfically devoted to lowf_equency
information. Thisisthe ".1"channel referred t o when you
seethese systems d escribed a s%.1,""6.1"or "7.1:'
Thebasschannel is separate f _om theother c hannels,
butsince it isintentionally bandwidthdimited,
sound
designers h avegiven it thatunique designation.

DTS
DTSisanother d igital a udiosystem thatiscapable of
delivering 5.1 or 6.1 discrete or matrix sound field
reproduction. Although bothDTSandDolbyDigital are
