Replacing the Battery

Open the screw which holds the battery compartment cover under the micrometre
with a suitable coin or other tool. Replace the battery with a new SR44 Battery.
Please observe correct polarity. The + pole must face the cover.
After that close the battery compartment.
Do not disassemble, burn, or short-circuit batteries and do not attempt to recharge
non-rechargeable batteries. Always use batteries of the same type and
dimensions.

Calibrating by the Operator

Allow the micrometre and possible dimensioned pieces to come to a temperature
of 20° C respectively the usual temperature at the workplace for several hours.
Significant changes in temperature influence the set zero of the micrometre,
therefore it is advisable to calibrate a micrometre used at workplaces which are not
temperature-controlled several times over the change of the seasons.
1. Clean the measuring surfaces of the micrometre and of possible dimensioned
pieces carefully with a lint-free cloth or a leather. Grasp the micrometre only on
the temperature isolated handling surfaces (9).
2. Slowly turn the ratchet stop (2) to fully close the micrometre respectively close
the micrometre against a dimensioned piece of known strength. The micrometre
25 – 50 mm Art. 400051224 is delivered with a dimensioned piece 25 mm
especially for this purpose. Exclusively use the ratchet stop to close the
micrometre.
3. When the micrometre is closed far enough for the ratchet stop starts slipping,
block the mechanism by tightening the clamping screw (8).
4. If the analogue scale of the micrometre does not show the expected value (0
resp. the strength of the dimensioned piece), use the included hook spanner to
carefully turn the thimble while the mechanism is blocked by inserting the hook
of the small end into the hole in the neck of the ratchet stop and slowly turning
the thimble assembly until the circumferential scale matches the expected
value. If it is not possible to match the scales this way, you can additionally use
the large end of the hook spanner to turn the inner tube with the millimetre
scale.
