1.6 Power Supply

As with all computer products, a stable power source is necessary for proper and reliable
operation. It is even more important for processors that have high CPU clock rates where
noisy power transmission is present.
The X13DEH motherboard accommodates two power supply units (PSU1/PSU2) for main
system power use for Supermicro (1U) systems. Connecting the power sideband distributor
board (PDB), located at JPDB1, to the Main Power In (+12V) and the Main Power Out (GND)
to provide system power to Nvidia proprietary systems. In addition, an 8-pin power connector
(JPWR1) and two 2-pin power connectors (JPWR2/JPDWR3) are also used to supply power
to onboard devices. Although most power supplies generally meet the specifications required
by the system, some are inadequate. All these power connections are also required to ensure
adequate power supply to the system.
Warning! To avoid damaging the power supply or the motherboard, be sure to connect Power
Supply Unit1/Unit2 to your power outlet for use in Supermicro systems, and connect the power
sideband distributor board to the +12V CST pin and the GND (Ground) CST pin to provide
system power to Nvidia proprietary systems. Please also connect the standard 8-pin power
connector (JPWR1) and the 2-pin auxiliary power connectors (JPWR2/JPWR3) to appropri-
ate power supplies to provide adequate power to your system. Failure to do so may void the
manufacturer warranty on your power supply and your motherboard.
It is strongly recommended that you use a high quality power supply that meets ATX power
supply Specification 2.02 or above. It must also be SSI-compliant.
