10. Using a fl at blade screwdriver, pry and remove
the wire cover from the rear of the air plenum.

11. Remove the Phillips-head screw and the wire
retainer. Pull the fan motor wires through the
opening.

12. Lift the outdoor fan motor and shroud from the
base pan.

Heater Assembly

The heater assembly consists of three 230/208 VAC
or 265 VAC resistance heating elements, a L110°C
(230°F) one-shot thermal fuse, and an L80-17°C
(176-63°F) auto reset thermal protector. The one-
shot thermal fuse is used as a backup in case the
auto reset thermal protector fails (stuck closed). The
heater assembly is located inside the air plenum
behind the indoor coil. The heaters and protectors
are removed as an assembly.

The heater is formed from a ceramic type PTC
(Power Temperature Coeffi cient) electrical resistance
material, which will generate heat in response to the
fl ow of electric current passing through it.
