Polaris Inset Eco Manual
• Cleaning – Painted cast iron
This finish can be maintained simply by dusting with a dedicated dry paint brush or brush
attachment on a hoover. Any painted cast iron will need to 'cure' onto the surface when
heat is first introduced, it is recommended for solid fuel fires to burn several small fires
initially.
• Cleaning – 'Antique' graphite coated cast iron.
This traditional finish is simply graphite paste applied to a painted surface, use a dedicated
cloth and shoe brush to clean and polish, this can be re-applied with another dedicated
brush.
• Warning
Cast Iron products are vulnerable to rust and tarnishing if exposed to dampness or water.
Avoid the use of damp cloths, water-based liquids, furniture polish, detergents, oils, grease
etc. onto the surface of the cast iron. Should your fireplace become wet for any reason,
dab it gently with a simple dry cloth. This should prevent any tarnishing or rust forming.
It is normal for some discolouration to occur to the working parts of a cast iron fireplace;
your fireplace casting can be restored to new with an application of heat resistant paint
whenever required.
