Detaching the front grille
Hold both sides at the top of the front grille and pull to-
wards you.
The grille will then come
away easily.
To
attach, push the four corners with the HITACHI
badge
at the woofer side lightly.
Operating level control
The
tweeter
level control is at the front.
Adjust it in
accordance with the acoustics in the listening room and
program source for a natural sound effect.

Turning the control clockwise towards MAX (¥
This increases the treble.
* NATURAL
This position is for normal operation.

Turning the control counterclockwise towards MIN *)
This decreases the treble.
The levels can be varied a maximum of 6 dB from MAX
to MIN.
Refer to the characteristic curve on the back
cover which shows the relationship between the control
position and the sound level.

®@ Tone control
If the bass is too weak for a program source and if it is
boosted by the amplifier's bass control and the loudness
switch, it may be clipped by the amplifier and these con-
trols may actually distort the bass.
Also, the amplitude
of the speaker cones may be increased too much and the
sound may appear to be unnatural.
Therefore, it is best
to use the amplifier normally and refrain from using the
tone control. When it is necessary to boost the bass with
the tone control, use it with a low frequency filter (or a
subsonic filter) attached to the amplifier and make sure
that the maximum
input level applied to the speaker
system is less than 120W.
