COMPACT DISC PLAYBACK FUNCTIONS
DISPLAY OF PLAYBACK
INFORMATION
ON THE TV SCREEN
When
a Compact
disc is being played, the relevant
playback information (the number of the track being
played, the index number, and the elapsed time from
the start of track playback), are displayed on the TV or
TV monitor.
The DISPLAY key enables the REMAIN indication (the
playback time remaining until the end of the disc from
the point currently
being
played), and the TOTAL
indication (the total number of tracks on the disc, and
the overall playing time) to be displayed.

The index
signal which is pre-recorded,
indicates divisions
within the music recorded on a given track.
If a disc has an
index signal recorded on it, the mark @Q85eX appears on the
explanation accompanying
the disc.
SCAN
(FAST FORWARD,
FAST BACKWARD)
When either end of this key is pressed after starting
playback, the player goes into either fast forward or
fast backward
modes,
and remains
in these modes
during the time the key is pressed.

When
scan operation is performed from play mode,
the playback sound can be heard faintly.
When scan operation is performed from pause mode,
scan operation is performed without sound, and when
the key is released, the player returns to pause mode.
The speed at which scan operation is performed, is
increased in two stages.
During the first two seconds
following
the pressing
of the key, low speed
scan
operation
is carried
out,
but following
this, high
speed scan operation is carried out.
If scan forward operation is performed to the end of
the disc, the player enters pause mode.
The player also enters pause mode, if scan backward
operation is performed to the beginning the disc.
