Servicing the Fuel Filter

Service Interval: Every 400 hours—Replace the
engine fuel filter.
1.
Open the hood; refer to
60).
2.
Clean the area around the fuel-filter head
(Figure
121).

Remove the filter and clean the filter-head
mounting surface
Note:
Use a clean cloth to clean the filter head.
4.
Lubricate the filter gasket with clean lubricating
engine oil; refer to the engine owner's manual
for additional information.
5.
Install the dry filter canister by hand until the
gasket contacts the filter head, then rotate it an
additional 1/2 turn.
6.
Start the engine and check for fuel leaks around
the filter and filter head.
Repair all fuel leaks.
7.
Shut off the engine and remove the key.
8.
Close and latch the hood; refer to
Hood (page
60).

Draining the Fuel Tank

Service Interval: Every 800 hours—Drain and clean
the fuel tank.
Before storage—Drain and clean the fuel tank.
In addition to the listed service interval, drain and clean
the tank if the fuel system becomes contaminated or if
you are storing the machine for an extended period.
Use clean fuel to flush out the tank.
