General Safety Instructions

2.6 Personal protective equipment

Personal protective equipment must be worn during work to minimise health risks.
S Always wear the personal protective equipment required for the particular work whilst performing this
work.
S Observe the signs regarding personal protective equipment in the working area.
Protective workwear
means tight-fitting work clothes with low tear strength, tight sleeves and no protruding
parts. Its primary purpose is to protect against injury, climate effects and dirt.
Do not wear rings, chains or other jewellery whilst working.
Hard hat
to protect against falling or flying parts.
Safety shoes
to protect against heavy falling parts and slipping on slippery surfaces.
Safety gloves
to protect the hands against friction, abrasion, stabbing or deep cuts as well as against
contact with hot or corrosive parts or fluids.
Wear during specific work
Special protective equipment is required when performing specific work. Such work is mentioned specific­
ally in the individual sections of this manual.
Safety goggles
to protect the eyes against flying parts or sprayed liquids.
Ear protectors
to protect against hearing damage caused by noise.
