3. Check balance. If blade is not balanced,
heavy end of blade will drop.
4. Grind bevel of heavy end. Do not
change blade bevel.
Replacing Mower Spindle Bearings
See Figure 41.
1. Park unit safely. (See PARKING on
page 20.)
NOTICE: The mower blade can remain
attached to the spindle shaft for this
procedure but may be removed if preferred.
2. Support blade/spindle shaft assembly
(J) and remove nut (A), washer (B),
spacer (C) and pulley (D).
3. Remove blade/spindle shaft assembly
(J) from spindle housing (G).
4. Remove lower bearing (H) and spacer
(F) from spindle housing (G). Discard
bearing.
5. Remove and discard upper bearing (E).
6. Clean entire assembly.
7. Install a new lower bearing (H) and
spacer (F) on spindle shaft.
IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! The clearance
between the lower bearing and the housing is
only 0.002 in. (0,05 mm). Do not force
bearing into housing.
8. Install the spindle shaft/blade assembly
(J), lower bearing (H) and spacer (F) into
the spindle housing (G).
9. Install the upper bearing (E).
10. Install pulley (D), spacer (C) and washer
(B).
11. Install and tighten nut (A). Torque to 85
lbf-ft (115 N•m).
12. If removed, install mower blade, blade
spacers and blade bolt. See on
page 37.
