D-6 InfiniBand Firmware Installation
(A) Versions of InfiniBand Controller:
1. Mem (*Note: Mem: Memory)
2. Mem-Free (Note: Memory-Free, *Default)
Both versions can be flashed by the user via the Linux OS (32-bit or 64-bit).
(B) To extract packages:
1. Obtain the file from Supermicro: sm_ib_prod_09_10_05.zip
2. # unzip sm_ib_prod_09_10_05.zip
3. Run the following in root to install the packages:
# tar zxvf mst-i686-4.2.0.tgz
# cd mst-i686-4.2.0
# ./mst_install
(Enter 1 to install hmst-4.2.0 kit)
# cd ..
# tar zxvf Driver_Linux_4_0_1.tgz
# cd vapi-linux-4.0.1-rc5
# ./install.sh
# cd ..
# tar zxvf sm_ibfw.tgz
(C) To flash the InfiniBand SDR mem version of firmware:
# mst start
# cd fw
# flint -d /dev/mst/mt25208_pciconf0 -i fw-25208-rel-4_7_0_sm.bin -guid
xxxxxxxxxxxx0000 -use_image_ps -y -nofs b (*Note: where
xxxxxxxxxxxx0000 is the base hex value for GUID. Substitute the beginning
xxxxxxxxxxxx with the MAC address of the first LAN on the motherboard.
If you see the error message "*** ERROR *** Can't open /dev/mst/
mt25208_pciconf0: Failed CFI query", please run this command again.)
# poweroff
When the system is powered off, disconnect the power cable and insert the
memory module.
(*Note: The users can install the memory module first and then flash the
firmware.)
(D) To flash the mem-free version of firmware:
Log in as root
# mst start
# cd fw
# flint -d /dev/mst/mt25208_pciconf0 -i fw-25218-rel-5_1_0_sm.bin -
use_image_ps -y -nofs b
