SECTION 4: TROUBLESHOOTING
CAUSE
A
Filter not backwashing

Filter bed loaded with sand.

"Cementing" or "Channeling" of media.

Leaking bypass valve.

Internal valve leak.

Distributor not properly seated in control valve.
D
Flow rate too high for fi lter.

Filter is brand new.
B
Wrong media used.
A
Flow rates too high.

Filter bed cemented or channeled.

Check motor by manually initiating a regeneration, re-
place as necessary

Check for uninterrupted power supply.

Check backwash frequency. Change program if neces-
sary.

Verify sediment being reduced is less dense than the
fi lter media.

Probe bed for this condition. Verify adequate pumping
rate for backwashing.

Check for frozen, plugged or restricted drain line.
3
Check for adequate backwash frequency.

Check bypass valve in "SERVICE" position. Repair or re-
place if necessary.

Check piston and spacers and seals. Replace as neces-
sary.

Make sure distributor is in tube adaptor protruding from
bottom of control valve.

Check distributor tube o-ring. Replace as necessary.

Check demand requirements against fi lter recommend-
ed fl ow rates.

Crack the bypass valve allowing some water to bypass
the unit.

Rebed unit.

Verify demand rate does not exceed fi lter rating.

Verify adequate pumping rate for backwashing unit.

Check drain line for freezing, plugging or restrictions.
