Neverstorelawnmowerwith fuel in tank indoors or in poorly
ventilatedareaswherefuel fumesmay reachan openflame,spark,
or pilot lightas on a furnace,water heater,clothesdryer,or gas
appliance.
PREPARING
THE ENGINE
Equipment s toredwith fuel canbecomestale whenstoredover30
days.Stalefuel causesacid and gumdepositsto form in fuel system
or on essentialcarburetorparts. Mixfuel stabilizerwith fuelin tank or
storagecontainer.Runengine fora shorttime to circulatestabilizer
throughcarburetorand engine.Engineand fuelwith stabilizercan be
stored up to 24 months.
IMPORTANT:If fuel stabilizerisnot used,you needto drain gasoline
from equipmentprior to storage.
Performthe followingbeforelong-termstorageof equipment:
1.
Whileengineis still warm,changeoil.
2.
Removespark plugand pourapproximately 1/2 oz. (15 ml)of
new engineoil intosparkplug cavity whichputs oil intocylinder.
Replacespark plugsecurely.
3.
Pullstarterrope slowly.This turns the engine'scrankshaftand
distributesoil throughthe engine.
4.
Add fuel stabilizeror drain fuelfrom engine.
5.
Cleandirt and debrisfrom topand all areasaroundengine.
6.
Storein a clean,dry area.

Cleanand lubricatemowerthoroughly as describedinthe lubrica-
tion instructions.
Donot usea pressurewasheror gardenhoseto cleanyour unit.
Coat mower'scuttingbladewith chassisgreaseto prevent
rusting.
Store mowerin a dry,cleanarea. Do notstore nextto corrosive
materials,such as fertilizer.
Whenstoringany type of powerequipmentina poorlyventilatedor
metal storageshed,care shouldbe taken to rust-prooftheequipment.
Usinga lightoil or silicone,coat the equipment,especiallycablesand
all movingpartsof yourlawnmowerbeforestorage.
Battery
The batterymustbe storedwith a full charge.Extendedstorageof a
dischargedbatterywill reducelifeand capacityof the battery.
