3. Record the cable routing and cable connections, and then disconnect all cables from the system board.

4. Remove the nine screws that secure the system board in the sequence as shown in the following
illustration.

5. Slide the system board to the front of the computer, and then carefully lift the system board out of the
chassis.
Note: Carefully handle the system board by its edges.
6. Remove the microprocessor from the failing system board, and then install it onto the new system
board. See "Microprocessor" on page 150.
7. Install the new system board into the chassis by aligning the nine screw holes in the new system board
with the corresponding mounting studs on the chassis. Then, install the nine screws in the sequence as
shown to secure the new system board.
