BIOS Error Beep (POST) Codes
During the POST (Power-On Self-Test) routines, which are performed each time
the system is powered on, errors may occur.
Non-fatal errors are those which, in most cases, allow the system to continue the
boot-up process. The error messages normally appear on the screen.
Fatal errors are those which will not allow the system to continue the boot-up pro-
cedure. If a fatal error occurs, you should consult with your system manufacturer
for possible repairs.
These fatal errors are usually communicated through a series of audible beeps.
The table below lists some common errors and their corresponding beep codes
encountered by users.

Additional BIOS POST Codes
The AMI BIOS supplies additional checkpoint codes, which are documented online
at

Guide").
When BIOS performs the Power On Self Test, it writes checkpoint codes to I/O port
0080h. If the computer cannot complete the boot process, a diagnostic card can be
attached to the computer to read I/O port 0080h (Supermicro p/n AOC-LPC80-20).
