Replacement procedure
1. Record the cable routing and cable connections, and then disconnect all cables from the system board.
2. Remove the computer stand cover. See "Computer stand cover" on page 60.
3. Remove the computer stand. See "Computer stand" on page 60.
4. Remove the optical drive. See "Optical drive" on page 61.
5. Remove the computer cover. See "Computer cover" on page 65.
6. Remove the system board frame. See "System board frame" on page 71.
7. Remove the M.2 solid-state drive. See "M.2 solid-state drive" on page 72.
8. Remove the Wi-Fi card. See "Wi-Fi card" on page 75.
9. Remove the memory module. See "Memory module" on page 76.
10. Remove the heat sink. See "Heat sink" on page 78.
11. Remove the GPU board. See "GPU board" on page 78.
12. Disconnect optical drive board cable, storage drive cable, LVDS cable, backlight cable, touch pad cable,
and power switch cable.
13. Remove three screws and then remove the system board.
14. Install the new system board.
15. Reinstall the removed parts in reverse order of the removal steps mentioned above.
16. Reconnect all disconnected cables to the computer and reconnect the power cord to the electric outlet.
The failing system board must be returned with a microprocessor socket cover to protect the pins during
shipping and handling.

Middle frame

Prerequisite
Before you start, read Chapter 1 "Important safety information" on page 1 and print the following
instructions.
Before you open the computer cover, turn off the computer and wait several minutes until the computer is
cool.
Replacement procedure
1. Turn off the computer and remove all connected devices and cables.
