ACP-1. For Hardware information about the plugged PMC modules and programming information please refer to the according PMC documents. The ACP-1 is a member of AIM's new family of 64bit extended PMC Carrier Boards in accordance with the new advanced PMC modules for analyzing, simulating, monitoring and testing of avionic data bus systems, as well as with any standard Third Party PMC module.
Section 1 contains an overview of this manual. – INSTALLATION – Section 2 describes the steps required to plug a PMC module onto ACP-1 and install it into CPCI environment – CONNECTOR PIN ASSIGNMENTS – Section 3 shows the pin definitions of following connectors:...
To Install ACP-1 into the PC 6. Find a free PCI slot in the PC. The ACP-1 is a Universal Add-In Card, thus don’t care about to plug into +3,3V or +5V PCI slot. Don’t forget to unplug the power cord from the wall outlet and to discharge any static power electricity before installation.
PMC Front panel Filler. This Filler has to be removed before plugging the PMC into its slot. The picture on the right side shows as a sample the front panel view if AIM’s new PMC module the AMC1553-4 is plugged. Instead of this, any third party standard PMC module might be plugged, which is in conformance to the IEEE PCI Mezzanine Specification.

Specification Revision 2.3 [I.1]. It includes all signals for a master to handle data and addressing, interface control, arbitration, and system functions. The ACP-1 implements the 64bit Bus extension pins, as well as the ability to work with up to 66 MHz system clock frequencies. The Carrier board is designed to be plugged in both PCI slot types: +3.3V and +5.0V signal environments PCI slots.
The PMC connector area implement two mechanical Keying pins for its coding of +5.0V / +3.3V or Universal IO signal voltage. See the Pin assignment of all PMC connectors in the following tables: Figure 3-1: PMC Connector orientation on ACP-1 ACP-1 Hardware Manual...
PMC keying code as defined by Standard Specification for PCI Mezzanine Cards: Figure 3-2: PMC Keying Codes By default the ACP-1 is configured and coded to work with PMC modules of +3,3V (only) Signalling IO and with Universal types. To plug in a +5,0V (only) PMC module, a specific coded ACP-1 Carrier board is available and has to be ordered by separate ordering number.
GmbH 3.3 64 bit Connector J0305 for REAR-IO On ACP-1 a 64pin, ribbon Cable Connector is placed at the rear PCB board edge to provide REAR-IO signals. The Pins are routed directly from the PMC Connector Pn4 to the J0305.
GmbH FEATURES OF ACP-1 The principle structure of the ACP-1 Carrier Module is shown in Figure 4-1. The ACP-1 includes a PCI-to-PCI Bridge device, which performs the transactions between two 64bit PCI Busses. Figure 4-1: Principle Structure of ACP-1 ACP-1 Hardware Manual...
4.1.1 The PCI-to-PCI Bridge device On ACP-1 the INTEL 21154 is used. With this device, at least the following features are implemented: Feature INTEL [21154] Compliance to PCI-Specifications R2.3...
GmbH 4.3 Interrupt routing The four Interrupt lines INTA# to INTD# are connected directly through from PMC Connector Pn1 to PCI Interface, as shown in the following block diagram: Figure 4-2: Block Diagram of IRQ routing ACP-1 Hardware Manual...
