Performing a ping test

If your FON-x80/x80B series IP phone is not working or not getting registered, you can try to identify the problem by
performing a ping test and determine if the phone is connected to a network and can reach a specific destination.
Before you begin
Make sure to use a web browser from the list available in

To access the web GUI of the phone, you need to know the administrator password. The default is 23646. The

FortiVoice administrator can change this password on the phone system in Phone System > Profile > Phone.
To perform a ping test
1. Determine the IP address of your FON-x80/x80B series IP phone:
a. Press the

2. On your computer, start a web browser and enter:
https://<ip_address>
Where <ip_address> is the IP address of the FON-x80/x80B series IP phone.
3. The web browser displays a Warning: Potential Security Risk Ahead message. Accept the risk by clicking
Advanced, and then clicking Accept the Risk and Continue.
4. In Name, enter admin.
5. In Password, enter the administrator password.
6. If you want the portal to remember your login credentials and use them the next time you log in, click Remember
me.
7. Click Log In.
8. Click Tool.
9. Under Ping, in IP Address/FQDN, enter the IP address or fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the destination.
10. To start the ping process, click Start.
11. Please wait.
12. Check the ping results.
