3 Hardware Element Overview
NOTE: The ESM, PSU, Fan Modules, HDD and DC-DC module are all hot-pluggable.
WARNING: Users should replace the drives one at a time. It is not recommended to remove multiple drives at the
same time.
WARNING: The hardware element replacement maximum time is the period from removing the hardware element
to installing a new one. Please refer to the following:

Canister replacement maximum time is 10 minutes.
●
PSU replacement maximum time is 10 minutes.
●
System fan module replacement maximum time is 10 minutes.
●
DC-DC module replacement maximum time is 10 minutes.
●
Drive replacement maximum time is 10 minutes.
For safety reasons, it is recommended that the equipment should be installed following the flow chart.

ESM (Electronic Service Module) Canister
3.1.1 Overview
The canister module provides external SAS connectivity for the four (4) Mini-SAS HDs from the rear of the chassis
and provides four external SAS 4 lane Mini-SAS HD (SFF-8674) connectors, a RS-232 serial port (audio jack),
and eleven status LEDs.
3.1.2 ESM Canister LED/Button
Refer to the picture below for the ESM canister viewed from the rear of the chassis. There are eleven LEDs and a
button on the canister face.
