    1 Specifications Overview This service manual is applicable to the SKOPE OD230F-2 fridge fitted with an AoFrio SCS Connect electronic controller. For information on the SKOPE OD230F fridge fitted with a CAREL ECOBOX-EVO electronic controller, refer to Service Manual MAN11018.

    SKOPE OD230F-2 2 Installation Positioning the Cabinet Cabinet The location of the cabinet may be the single most important decision that will extend its life Location and ensure economical, high performance. The cabinet is designed to operate within a climatic class 3 environment (25°C @ 60% relative humidity).

    SKOPE OD230F-2 Ventilation Keep the ventilation slots in the kick panel clear at all times. Never store cardboard cartons or other objects in front of the cabinet. CAUTION To prevent over-heating and conserve energy, ensure that air can flow freely all around the cabinet, including underneath and on top.

    The cabinet is fitted with an SCS Connect electronic controller. The controller is located behind the kick panel. The controller is pre-programmed. SKOPE does not recommend changing the settings unless it is absolutely necessary. To ensure efficient operation, the controller automatically forces a defrost cycle when required.

    SKOPE OD230F-2 Service Mode The service mode can be run using the controller faceplate, but SKOPE strongly recommends using the SCS Connect Field app. You will need a 9-digit PIN to enter the service mode via the controller. If you don’t have one, contact your User Manager to request a PIN.

    SKOPE OD230F-2 5 Replacement Procedures Isolating Electrics You must isolate the cabinet from the mains power supply before attempting any maintenance. To isolate the cabinet from the power supply, switch it off and unplug the power cord from the mains power supply.

    SKOPE OD230F-2 Cladding The cabinet is clad with a high-strength plastic kick panel, night blind cover, front upstand, and painted metal sides. All cladding is removable and replaceable.     SKOPE OD230F-2 Procedure 11: To replace the top interior light 1. Disconnect the cabinet from the mains power supply. 2. Unclip and unplug the light from the top of the cabinet opening. 3. Clip the replacement light into place at the top of the cabinet opening, and plug the replacement light into the light supply.

    SKOPE OD230F-2 Night Blind The cabinet is fitted with a manual night blind which should be pulled down into the closed position during store closing hours to save power. The night blind has a switch which automatically tells the electronic controller to run the cabinet in night mode (with the lights off) when the blind is in the closed position, or day mode (with the lights on) when in the open position.

    SKOPE OD230F-2 Procedure 17: To remove the refrigeration cassette (continued) 3. Pull the two cassette lifting levers out and rotate outwards to lower the refrigeration cassette. 4. Use the hand hold to pull the cassette out from the cabinet. When removing, take care of loose plugs and cables, and the top gasket.

    Evaporator To help access the components inside the refrigeration cassette, SKOPE has produced an Stand evaporator stand (part number UH0-J010) which supports the evaporator coil so that the evaporator tub can be removed. Follow the instructions below to fit the evaporator stand for servicing.

    SKOPE OD230F-2 Procedure 22: To replace the gas cooler fan blade 1. Disconnect the cabinet from the mains power supply. 2. Remove the gas cooler fan assembly (see page 29). 3. Remove the screw and washer from the centre of the fan blade, and lift the blade from the motor.
  • Page 31 SKOPE OD230F-2 The fan motor and fan blade are fixed to the evaporator shroud via the brackets. The shroud (complete with fan motor and fan blade) can be lifted off the evaporator tub once the refrigeration cassette cover has been removed.

    14. Test and tag as per standard procedure on completion. Compressor The SKOPE global refrigeration cassette is designed for use only with the specified compressor. If the compressor must be replaced, ensure that the SKOPE-specified compressor is used as a replacement. Do not use other compressors within this refrigeration cassette.

  • Page 39 SKOPE OD230F-2 Diagnostics The following test is useful for diagnosing a blockage or short of gas situation. Perform the test before opening the refrigeration system. Do NOT fit line tap valves, bullet piercing valves, or Schrader valves. It is useful to have a correctly operating cassette running beside the cassette being serviced to compare behaviour.

Calculate the temperature differential between the two temperature measuring tools by subtracting the cooler reading from the warmer reading. 9.     SKOPE OD230F-2 Capillary The SKOPE global cassette has been designed with an easily serviceable capillary. If a Restriction capillary restriction occurs, follow the steps below to replace the capillary. Note: When replacing the capillary it is also necessary to replace the reducer. The reducer is a separate part and should be ordered when ordering the capillary.

Create a flow of nitrogen through the existing cut process tubes, from the high side to the low side, of approximately 5 to 6 litres per minute. The flow should be noticeable exiting from the low side process tube, showing that the system is clear and it is safe to apply heat.

    1 × 1 mm bubble every 15 seconds. Such a small leak may not be detected with soap bubbles or by being immersed in a water bath. To find small leaks, SKOPE recommends a good quality R744 electronic leak detector with a sensitivity of 3 g per year.
